Spencer MacDonald is the National Secretary at Bectu (a Sector of Prospect) responsible for freelance members in Film and Television production across the UK. Previously he was Supervisory Official for staff employed in commercial television. 

Mr MacDonald first became a union official in the media and entertainment industry in 1996. Most of his work has concentrated on delivering new employment arrangements for freelance workers. He is currently involved in several initiatives/campaigns for improving pay, terms and conditions and training opportunities for freelance workers. He also sits on the British Film Commission advisory board and is Vice President of EURO-MEI.
