Will Hanrahan has spent four decades making television across News and Current Affairs, Factual, Documentary, Specialist Factual, Entertainment and Comedy. Today, as co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of FirstLookT Studios, he oversees around 100 hours of production each year for broadcasters and streamers in the UK and internationally.

A lifelong early adopter of new technology, Will is particularly ambitious for what AI can add to the creative process, rather than simply what it can replace. FirstLook’s six-part Sky History/ZDF/BBC Select series Killer Kings made extensive use of AI-generated imagery, rigorously tested for creative, technical and factual integrity. Its innovative visual work went on to win Excellence in VFX at the 2025 Broadcast Tech Innovation Awards.

Will argues that AI is opening up extraordinary new creative possibilities for programme makers, but that its future depends on two fundamentals: protecting intellectual property and maintaining factual accuracy.
