Duncan McWilliam founded Outpost VFX in 2012 following a career as a VFX Supervisor and Director. In that time he has driven exceptional growth at the company, from startup scale to a leading mid-sized vendor with studios in four countries.

His focus has always been on innovation, from early adoption of remote working to becoming the largest international VFX vendor to be fully virtualised in the cloud with AWS. 

The latter has brought Outpost to now – an agile, scalable vendor with emerging technology at its core, able to develop and deploy AI methodologies rapidly to benefit filmmakers with the technological backbone and underlying agentic systems to do so effectively across the globe.

Duncan’s partnership with GenAI model developers has led to the creation of unique internal products at Outpost VFX that have been designed to influence the entire filmmaking ecosystem and re-engineer how we make films forever.
